Open-Face Sandwich

I don't know how I feel about the open-face sandwich. I don't think this is something I can support. Haven't you lost the essence of the sandwich by serving it "open-face"? Isn't the whole point of a sandwich to enclose some sort of filling between two slices of bread? It's like piling a bunch of stuff on top of a tortilla and calling it an open-face burrito. I think the open-face sandwich is the epitome of laziness...it's easier just to pile crap on top of two slices of bread rather than to carefully construct an actual sandwich. In the above picture of an open-face hot roast beef sandwich, isn't it simply roast beef on top of two pieces of crappy Wonderbread?

I don't understand the open face sandwich and I will no longer be supporting it. Thank you.
